Mr. Samuels' prior experience includes eleven years as an architectural designer and project manager for Davis Brody & Associates and Bond Ryder Associates. He served as a designer for the Towers on the Park, a six-hundred unit high rise condominium complex at 110th Street and Central Park West in Manhattan and two luxury apartment buildings; The Soundings and Battery Pointe which are located in the Battery Park City Residential District in lower Manhattan. Other experience included work as the Project Manager for the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. This required the coordination of consultants and architects on three continents.
At the firm of Roberta Washington Architects, P.C., where he is currently employed as Principal Designer and Senior Associate, Mr. Samuels was project manager for a campus masterplan proposal for Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York and two major school renovations/additions in New Haven Connecticut; the Clarence Roger and Katherine Brennan elementary schools. The Clarence Rogers project consisted of the gut renovation of a 35,000 square foot structure with a construction cost of $7,000,000. The Katherine Brennan project, which followed the Rogers project, was a 50,000 square foot gut renovation with a 5,000 square foot pair of cafeteria and media center additions. The construction cost of the Brennan project was $11,000,000
Mr. Samuels has managed the construction administration of a new 130 unit, $30,000,000 residential condominium which is slated to be certified as a LEED “Green Building”. Additional projects currently in construction that are being managed by Mr. Samuels include; a new 60,000 square foot, $15,000,000 school, the Grimes Elementary School, the Davis Middle School, a $6,000,000 major renovation and Parker Elementary School, a $2,000,000 renovation/addition, all located in Mount Vernon N.Y..
