Medgar Evers College - Master Plan

Brooklyn, NY

The Master Plan for Medgar Evers College demonstrated how the existing two-building campus could grow from 3,600 students to 6,500 students. The preferred option required 540,000 net sq. ft. of new construction and 270,000 net sq. ft. of renovations. The total square footage of the complex is 1.1 million sq. ft. of college space. The Master Plan also developed a campus center, created order and organized new program distribution, provided for academic interchange outside the classroom and enabled community outreach. The Master Plan was estimated to require more than 13 years of design and construction.

The Medgar Evers Academic Complex I is the first building authorized from the Master Plan. It is a five-story, 194,000 GSF brick structure on which the firm is associate architect.
