Sherman Creek Retail Center

New York, NY

Sherman Creek, which flows into the Harlem River in Washington Heights, is a much polluted body of water surrounded by housing projects, a school and gas stations. Many of the retail ventures in the area are located in areas not zoned for retail. This feasibility study presents a proposal for constructing 34,000 sq. ft. of retail space in a building which overlooks a revitalized Sherman Creek. The building is intended to create a point of connection between the community and the water as well as serving as an economic base for the area.
